Bret Easton Ellis slams Kathryn Bigelow with sexist comments on Twitter

Bret Easton Ellis took to Twitter Wednesday to voice his opinion on Kathryn Bigelow and slammed the director with sexist comments.

"Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting filmmaker if she was a man but since she's a very hot woman she's really overrated," Ellis tweeted.

He continued on to say, "Kathryn Bigelow: Strange Days, K-19 The Widowmaker, Blue Steel, The Hurt Locker. Are we talking about visionary filmmaking or just OK junk?"

Aside from currently knocking the Oscar-winning director, Ellis has sparked controversy before by commenting on other matters.

For example, Ellis slammed the rumors last summer that actor Matt Bomer, who is gay, was a possibility to play Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian Grey, reports E! News.

The author also defended Paris Hilton's homophobic comments in September agreeing that gay men are "disgusting" and "probably have AIDS."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bigelow has not responded to Ellis' remarks.

Her film, Zero Dark Thirty, hits theaters January 11 and could end up being a dark horse at the Oscars, already receiving prizes from the National Board of Review and the New York Film Critics Circle, reports E! News.
