With last night’s episode of “American Dad” titled, “Lost In Space” we finally got to see the next chapter of a very important storyline from this exciting season number nine. In the episode, we follow Haley’s husband, Jeff, who earlier in the season was sent to Roger’s home planet in a mix-up after he saw Roger and was going to tell everyone about him. Now, throughout the entire season up to this point, no one knew where Jeff was or if he and Haley would be back together. In fact, we start the episode with Haley weeping wanting Jeff back.
When the episode starts though, we in fact see him on a slave transport that is heading towards Roger’s planet. This transport, headed up by the evil emperor Zing, puts all of the slaves or prisoners to work at various restaurants in a shopping mall type setting. In this setting, the only two humans on the ship, Jeff and the comedian, Sinbad, played in this episode by the world renown comedian himself, work in of all places a shwarma kiosk, of course paying tribute to “The Avengers”. When Jeff learns that there is only one way off the ship by proving his love to Haley by way of an alien that plays his memories of their relationship on a big screen, he jumps at the chance. But, there is a consequence, we learn. If Jeff cannot prove his love for Haley, he will lose his genitalia, just as everyone who has tried to have.
As Jeff tries and fails in this endeavor though, he goes and talks to the alien who only showed his bad memories with Haley, we learn that emperor Zing was in fact waging war on love because He in fact was cheated on by Roger when he was still on the planet. As everyone starts attacking everyone, Jeff jumps into an escape pod only to see Sinbad killed as he takes off towards earth. Finally in the post-credits scene, we get a look at what is to come where as Jeff heads to earth alone, Sinbad comes back in ghost form to help him on his journey.
What this shows us is that this story of pursuing love between Jeff and Haley and the idea of reuniting has only just begun.
