As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis, accused of plotting to murder his wife, is released on bail

Tim Lambesis, the singer for the Christian metal band As I Lay Dying, is out on bail today. Lambesis made headlines earlier this month when he was arrested for allegedly plotting to have his wife murdered.

As we previously reported, Lambesis was arrested on May 7 in Oceanside, California on charges that he tried to hire someone to murder his estranged wife Meggan, who filed for divorce in September. The two have three adopted children together and they were married for eight years.

A month before she filed for divorce, Lambesis sent her an email telling her that he no longer believed in God. According to Rolling Stone Meggan discovered that he was making trips to Florida and had affairs with other women.

He put in a not guilty plea. The singer claims that a gym acquaintance set him up. It turns out that the person he tried to hire to commit the murder was an undercover officer.

While his bond was originally set at $3 million, this was lowered to $2 million. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that he posted bail through a bail bond company and was released Thursday afternoon.

During a court hearing last week, Lambesis’ attorney, Thomas Warwick, claimed that his client used steroids that “devastatingly affected” his thinking.

He will have to wear a GPS monitor, gave up his passport and will have to stay away from Meggan and their children.
