Ashley Madekwe among others will not return to ABC’s ‘Revenge’

After two seasons of playing Hamptons social climber Ashley Davenport as a series regular on ABC’s hit drama Revenge, Ashley Madekwe will not be returning for the show’s third season.

Deadline reports the reason for the 31-year-old British actress’ departure is due to storyline purposes.

Madekwe has been with the series since the pilot episode, originally the event planner for Victoria Grayson (Madeline Stowe). Ashley, a power hungry social climber, shifted sides and joined forces with Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny), serving as his assistant for his election campaign. She even had relations with both Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) and his and Stowe’s son, Daniel (Joshua Bowman). Ashley’s storyline usually involved her trying to get ahead somehow by impressing the Grayson’s. However, towards the end of the second season she realizes the truth and goes against the Grayson’s schemes, joining forces with Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler).

In a recent interview with WetPaint, Madekwe says, “I am really satisfied where {Ashley} ends up, especially in the finale she has a huge decision to make and a huge loyalty shift. Her relationship with Emily is at a stalemate at the moment, but she definitely finally picks a side and commits to it.”

We also said goodbye to some other regular Hamptoners this season. Connor Paolo, who plays Declan Porter, died from Conrad’s intended bomb explosion in the season finale. Creator and showrunner Mike Kelley will also no longer be with the show – after wanting to produce 13 episode seasons as opposed to 22 episodes, ABC replaced Kelley with Sunil Nayar, a former executive producer.

Farewell to our beloved Revengers! They will sure be missed. Are you sad to see them go?
