Connecticut man arrested for posing as One Direction's Harry Styles to coax young girls into performing sex acts online

A Connecticut man appeared in court on Thursday on charges of first-degree possession of child pornography, employing a minor in an obscene performance and using a computer to entice a minor. He posed as a member of the boy band One Direction in order to lure young girls.

John Eastman, 45, posted as One Direction’s Harry Styles, 19, in order to try to get young girls to perform sex acts on the internet.

According to Waterbury Republican American, Eastman had the Skype username Harry.Styles888, and cops found pictures of Styles saved to his computer, which he used to convince girls he actually was Styles.

Eastman left the city of Waterbury to try and escape getting prosecuted, but cops found him in Virginia and arrested him on Wednesday. They had been contacted by a Vermont state trooper, who was dealing with a complaint from a family who said Eastman had talked to as Styles.

He told detectives, “My hope is that the girl will show me herself on camera and then pose in a sexual manner, or perform some kind of sex act for me to see.”

Fox News reports that in 2012, he gave cops his computer and was subsequently interviewed by law enforcement. He then fled to Virginia.

Eastman is being held on $500,000 bail and has fourth-degree sexual assault on his record. He was on the sex offender registry for a decade before getting taken off three years ago.
