Miley Cyrus hit the Billboard Music Awards stage on Sunday for two reasons: to present Top Male Artist to Justin Bieber, and to make a big announcement about her new single, “We Can’t Stop.”
The 20-year-old made the announcement many fans have been waiting to hear. She revealed her new single is set to be released June 3rd.
“I’m excited to be here, and tell you guys my new single, “We Can’t Stop,” will be out June 3rd. That’s the reason why I’m here tonight,” she said.
Although she was presenting Top Male Artist, she may have hinted that the song is about relationships during her speech about the nominees.
“Men, we can’t stop loving them,” she said. “But the truth is, we do love some more than we love others.”
After her appearance on the Billboard Music Awards, Cyrus quickly started building excitement for her single’s release.
“RT if your gonna buy #wecantstopjune3rd,” she tweeted before revealing that a countdown to the song’s release had started on her website.
Overall, Miley’s night was huge, but there was one thing she didn’t get to do that she wished she could: perform her new song.
“Couldn't have asked for a better night (except maybe performing #WeCantStop),” she wrote.
