The Voice returned with the top eight vocalists performing for a spot to advance in the live rounds. Before the vocalists took the stage Blake Shelton took the stage to perform his current single, “Boys Round Here.”
First up to perform was Judith Hill from Team Adam. Hill performed, “#ThatPower,” by Will.i.am and Justin Bieber. Shelton started off the comments by saying that Hill’s singing is always spot on and appreciates that versatility in Hills performances. Usher said that Hill did a great job and started off the show in an incredible way. Levine said that Hill is a true artist and that performance was just like any other artist performing today.
Taking the stage next was Holly Tucker took on “DONE.” by the Band Perry. Usher said that Tucker did an incredible job and is very talented. Shakira added that Tucker really had an attitude and sass that made this performance stand out. Levine said that he really saw a new side to Tucker and that she did a great job tonight. Coach Shelton said that all of the artists who are moving forward in the competition are really connecting with their songs and Tucker is doing that and he wants America to really meet Tucker.
Michelle Chamuel, Sarah Simmons, Judith Hill and Sasha Allen took the stage to perform Rihanna’s hit, “Diamonds.”
The Swon Brothers representing Team Blake followed the ladies. The Swon Brothers performed, “Seven Bridges Road,” by The Eagles. Usher said that the Swon Brothers put their own personal spin on a classic. Shakira said that it was cool and the harmonies really suited the voices of the brothers. Levine said that the performance was amazing but a few moments could have been improved. Shelton added that the brothers are really real and have a lot of unique talent to bring to the competition.
Following The Swon Brothers was Sasha Allen from team Shakira. Allen took on fellow coaches song, “Without You,” by David Guetta featuring Usher. Levine said that every time he hears Allen sing it is bittersweet because Allen is no long on team Adam and that she did a great job. Shelton added that he compared himself to Allen as a singer and it wasn’t good because Allen is outstanding. Usher said that it was a great song choice and that Allen did do an incredible job. Coach Shakira said that to her, Allen is the whole package and that Allen took the song and made it her own.
Taking a break from the action, the current country singers on The Voice took on a classic Sugarland song, “Something More.”
Michelle Chamuel took the stage to perform a Bruno Mars classic, “Grenade.” By the end of her performance Chamuel had her coach on his feet clapping. Shakira said that the performance was spectacular. Levine added that the performance was awesome and that the performance this week was so dynamic. Shelton said that this was her best performance of the competition to date. Usher added that Chamuel really represents true inner beauty and that her performance represented everything that we love about life.
Next up was Danielle Bradbery from Team Blake. Bradbery performed one of Shelton’s favorite songs, “Grandpa,” by the Judds. Usher said that when Bradbery performs it is effortless. Shakira added that each one of Bradbery’s performances is very honest and genuine and that she has star power. Levine said that beyond his competition Bradbery is really ready to make an impact in the country music scene. Shelton said that is clear to anyone who has ears could tell that Bradbery has talent.
The last performance of the night was from Amber Carrington from Team Adam. Levine picked Adele’s single, “Skyfall.” As the performance ended, Levine lifted up his hands in victory. Shelton said that Carrington took the diva powerhouse vocal of the night and that she is still a country singer. Usher said that Carrington was incredible and gave the audience the performance that they wanted. Shakira said that even though taking on an Adele song can be a risk, the high notes worked for Carrington. Levine said that Carrington could be popular all over the music industry and that no one in this shows history had performed an Adele song in that fashion.
