Adam Lambert scores role on 'Glee'

Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy announced over Twitter on July 10 that American Idol season eight runner-up, Adam Lambert, will be joining the Glee cast for the upcoming fifth season.

“I am thrilled to announced that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall,” Murphy tweeted.

No further details on Lambert’s role were revealed. The Hollywood Reporter said Fox itself had no answers to whether Lambert’s status on the show would be series regular, recurring, or guest spot.

It seems as though Lambert’s dreams came true! In January 2012 he told the Hollywood Reporter, “Glee is really irresistible – it’s charming.” He added that he would love to play himself on the series.

Lambert will be joining the Glee cast as the second American Idol alum to make an appearance. Jessica Sanchez, eleventh season runner-up had a multi-episode role as a member of a rival glee club. Other big names to appear on the show include stars such as Kate Hudson, Kristen Chenoweth, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

According to Deadline, Lambert, among other American Idol alum such as Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, were in conversations with Fox about filling in the judges seats this upcoming fall. With judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj departing, Fox is considering replacing the judges with said alum. However, until we find out Lambert’s contract with Glee, no further information on him taking over the judge spot will be revealed.

Glee returns Thursday, September 19 at 9pm on Fox.
