While winter always seems to be coming, arriving even sooner is the second in Ommegang Brewery's line of Game of Thrones inspired beers. Following the Iron Throne Blonde Ale that was debuted in April along with season three of the hit show, the next beer based on the popular novels and TV show is the Take the Black Stout. This beer is inspired by the men of the Night's Watch, those who are sworn to protect the land of Westeros from everything and anything north of the Wall.
According to the official press release from the brewery, the Take the Black Stout is colored just as the name would suggest with aromas that include dark chocolate, caramel malt, earthy hops and a touch of fruitiness. The taste palate will include chocolate and dark coffee. The 7% ABV will make this one of the stronger stouts out there, a lot more so than Guinness, which is 4.3% ABV by comparison.
Take the Black Stout is set to hit shelves, bars, restaurants and home in late September, with more Game of Thrones inspired beers to follow in 2014.
