After the Supreme Court’s ruling of the Defense of Marriage Act was deemed unconstitutional, plenty of same sex couples celebrated the news by indulging in legal marriage. Tori Spelling’s close friends Bill Horn and Scout Masterson, who are regular guest stars on her reality show Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, were legally married on July 3.
The couple told US Weekly, “After being a couple for over a decade, we’re THRILLED to share the news that we were LEGALLY married today! It’s such a special day for our family and all LGBT families out there who now have the legal right to marriage.”
According to People, the couple’s original decision to wed was in 2009 when they went to best friend and party planner Tori Spelling to put together a wedding in Palm Springs. Unfortunately for the couple, by the time they planned their wedding and set a date, gay marriage became illegal in California. They instead decided to have a commitment ceremony in which they celebrated amongst their family and friends.
This time around, the couple said they didn’t want to miss their opportunity again, so they rushed to the altar.
“On Monday we spent nearly five hours at the Van Nuys courthouse waiting in line to receive our marriage certificate, and we took the first available time to be legally married.”
They were joined by a small group of close friends and family, including their three-year-old adopted daughter Simone, Masteron’s mom, and Tiffani Theiessen and her family. Simone stood at the alter with her dads and held each of their hands as they said their vows.
Horn tweeted: “So this is what equality feels like. So tingly!” He also said he felt like Sex & The City’s Carrie Bradshaw.
