Fox hit musical Glee has added 5 series regulars for the upcoming fifth season as well as downgrading some stars to guest appearances.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Melissa Benoist who plays Marley, Jacob Artist (Jake) and Becca Tobin (Kitty) are now series regulars. Along with The Glee Project contestants Blake Jenner and Alex Newell. Benoist’s character, Marley is the strong female voice that replaced Lea Michele’s character Rachel in New Directions—McKinley High’s glee club. Michele is still a series regular; her character resides in New York City.
The show has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season according to E!news. Series regulars Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. have been demoted to guest appearances; due to their characters graduating for McKinley High therefore leaving Glee club in which the show revolves around.
Show creator Ryan Murphy shared his excitement about the show being renewed. "I am very grateful to Kevin [Reilly], Dana [Walden] and Gary [Newman] for their incredible support of this series from the beginning," he said. "But I also want to thank our loyal audience, whose passion and enthusiasm continue to amaze and inspire us."
