'True Blood' episode 6 recap: “Don’t You Feel Me”

If last week’s cliffhangers seemed unbearable, this week’s episode piled on more cliffhangers and rose the stakes unbelievably high. Storylines began to cross over and every character was involved and received equal screen time. The action-packed episode definitely set us up for what’s to come in the remaining four episodes.

The episode began by wrapping up last week’s storylines. Starting from “Lafeyette” (Sookie’s dad) drowning Sookie in the river, Bill sent for Warlow to rescue her and then freed Lafeyette from the spirit. Meanwhile, instead of Pam and Eric battling it out, they murdered a guard and broke the glass in the observation room – Eric poking his eye out at a very afraid Steve Newlin.

Sookie chooses to rescue Benlow from Billith’s power by bringing him to a safe “fairy” place where it’s just the two of them. This also allowed for an intimacy between Sookie and Ben, as we learned more about his character. The half fairy half vampire admits he is not proud of his vampire half and that his heart belongs with the light. He cannot control his vampire urges in the nighttime and has Sookie tie him up for her protection. Sookie also chooses to confront her feelings for the brooding fairy-vamp and comes to terms with her tendency to fall for danger. And she indulges in it - the two engage in a very passionate sexcapade, taken away into one another’s light.

The Governor decides to punish Eric by locking him in a tiny cell while watching Nora get infected with a virus to kill her. While tortured at first, he devises a sneaky plan. He summons Willa, after she had an emotional talk with her father about mixing her in with the rest of the vampires, to glamour the security guards and release Eric and a dying Nora. Eric dresses up in the guards uniform and Nora wears a lab coat, as they go out into the halls finding True Blood – only to find out they’re all contaminated with the virus Nora was injected with. What is the great Eric Northman to do now?

Perhaps Bill will come to the rescue? After being drained almost entirely to have a near (true) death experience to summon Lillith, Bill finds out he’s on his own. He downs Warlow’s blood and runs to the Governor’s house where he flashes his fangs and is shot repeatedly with wooden bullets. Too bad they don’t know the power of Bill Compton! He has the guards fire at one another, and proceeds to rip off the Governor’s head and place it nice and neat (okay, a little bloody) on a statue in the courtyard. This is the Bill we all missed!

Jason joined the LAVTF to save Jessica. He goes head to head with Sarah and threatens to expose her broken pact to God. This of course causes Sarah to devise a heart-wrenching plan – she has Jason “study” fangbanging”. Only problem is one of the subjects is Jessica. Lucky for Jason, the vampire she is assigned to have sex with is a sweetheart who wishes not to engage in it – and is tortured instead.

As for the werewolves/shifters, Sam gave up Emma to her grandma. Just as Emma is handed off safely, Alcide and his father show up, threatening Sam to never show up in the county again otherwise he’s dead.

Speaking of death, we lost Terry. As Arlene and Lafayette thought he was plotting suicide, they used Holly’s vampire friend to compel him to forget his memories of pain from the war. We saw Terry back to his happy-go-lucky self – but it was short lived as a bullet went through the artery in his neck, killing him. Though his storyline was lacking this season it was still sad to see a beloved character be killed off.

Lastly – Andy chose a name for fairy daughter Number Four: Adalene-Brailyn-Charlaine-Danica.
