Valarie Pettiford scores recurring role on ‘True Blood’ season 6

Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford will be joining the True Blood cast in Bon Temps.

Deadline confirmed that Pettiford will join the ensemble cast in a recurring role starting in a two episode arc in episode seven. The episode is called “World Without End,” and it is scheduled to air on July 28.

According to Shockya, Pettiford is a Fosse-trained dancer who has experience working on the Broadway stage, short films, and a long list of TV shows. She embarked on national tours including “Dancin’” and “Show Boat,” has appeared on shows such as Half and Half and in big-budget studio films such as Jumping the Broom, and even has her own collection of original lullabies that was released this past fall. The well-rounded actress was nominated for a Tony Award and also won Best Actress honors for the festival short The Response.

Pettiford said of working on True Blood, “Working on this show has been a delicious experience. It has been an absolute joy to work with a cast of this caliber. Everyone has been so lovely – they say it starts from the top and on True Blood it really does.”

True Blood is currently in its sixth season and airs Sunday nights at 9 EST on HBO.
