‘True Blood’ season 6 finale: “Radioactive”

We knew the finale would leave us with burning questions but we didn’t know it would leave us with a literally painful cliffhanger…. How far away until next season? Oh right, not until next summer.

We’re left wondering a lot, but certain things we for sure can’t get off our minds: Has Bill really joined the good side now? How threatening is the Hep V virus? And most importantly, is Eric Northman dead??

Here’s a look at what happened on the season six finale:

- Warlow was killed – after we were just (maybe) starting to like him when he showed his vulnerable side, that was quickly taken away when he hit Sookie straight across the face, tied her up with his light, and told her he was using her. Luckily, and as per usual, she was saved and her human life was spared – Jason and Sookie’s great grandfather even assisted in Warlow’s gooey death. Say goodbye to any potential hybrid species.

- Bill turned good again – we haven’t seen Bill like this since season two when he was head over heels for Sookie. Being drained of all that fairy blood must have give some humanity back to him because for the first time in awhile he was likeable and we were rooting for him. He and Jason devised a plan to save Sookie from Warlow and executed it pretty flawlessly.

- The fairy blood wore off, flaming on the vampire’s parade - Bill starts to light on fire along with the other vampires that were fed his sacred blood – but most importantly we’re taken to Switzerland where Eric sits naked, stoic, and beautiful while reading a book on top of the mountains, when he starts to catch on fire….does this mean he is actually dead? We didn’t see Pam for the rest of the episode, so maybe she somehow magically rescued him? We really really hope so, since we can’t imagine watching True Blood without him!

6 months later and a lot has changed….

-Sookie is dating Alcide: and they’re adorable. Sookie is watching Bill be interviewed on the news for his successful memoir, while Alcide scoops her up and makes her forget all about it.

-Yes, Bill is a successful author for writing about being a vampire God

-Violet still won’t have sex with Jason: six months later and poor Jason still hasn’t gotten any.

-A deadly virus is going around and everyone is in danger.

-Sam is the mayor of Bon Temps and he issues everyone get tested for the disease. We only know for sure that Sookie and Alcide are both clean. Sam insists that every human have a monogamous relationship with a vampire for protection. So Bill offers to protect Sookie with a huffy Alcide, and Jessica offers to protect Andy and his daughter. Awkward alert.

-Merlotte’s is now Bellefleur’s, and Arlene is the owner.

-Tara eats her mother:, Tara’s controlling, super-religious mother apologizes for being a bad mother and lets Tara feed off her.

-STILL NO ERIC: Ok, seriously it’s been six months so…where is he?!

While the cliffhangers are certainly bugging us, it seemed as though this season was built up a lot to something that it didn’t deliver. For one, Warlow was starting to become a good character and one that could actually put Sookie’s romantic life into perspective – but it took the easy way out by Warlow really being evil. He died in a very predictable, cartoonish way that wasn’t satisfactory or surprising.

And amidst it all, the only thing we couldn’t get off our minds was if Eric really died the true death…because that would be the biggest shocker yet.

What were your thoughts on the season finale? Are you glad Warlow is gone or was he killed too quickly? Is Eric really dead? Who were the zombie like infected creatures at the end and how will they be a threat to our favorite vamps?
