Like last week's offering, this week's trailer also boasts an A-list pedigree. Directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien) and featuring an original screenplay from Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men), The Counselor hits theaters in late October in what looks like it will be one of the top crime thrillers of the year.
The trailer establishes Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) as the titular counselor, one who also seems to have a shadier side. He's seen dealing with who the viewer can assume is a drug dealer, played by an eccentric looking Javier Bardem (Skyfall). Playing the counselor's wife, and trying to wrap her head around what her husband is doing, is Penelope Cruz (Volver). Rounding out the cast are a couple more household names playing character's that also seem to be a bit on the shadier side, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt.
While the trailer doesn't go into the plot of the movie all too much, it does make the point to show that it's sure to be full of mystery and intrigue, as well as some of the trademark action that viewers have come to expect from Ridley Scott. Much like last week's featured trailer, American Hustle, this one seems to have Oscar written all over it.
The Counselor is set to be released on October 25.
