On Thursday’s episode of The Colbert Report, Stephen talked about Breaking Bad, hung out with Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, time traveled and interviewed a man about a shark.
Stephen began the episode by talking about how he was featured on Sunday’s episode of Breaking Bad. In the show, a character was locked in a trap and another character gave him ‘Americone’ ice cream, Stephen’s flavor for Ben and Jerry’s.
Stephen said that the ice cream was a huge plot point because, once the character ate the ice cream, he was able to leap into the air to get out of the trap. The reason that the ice cream helped him so much was because each pint was made with love… and meth.
In a sharp transition, Stephen switched the topic to the polarization of politics. He said that he didn’t agree that politics were polarized but anyone who disagrees with him should be shot. Turns out, he was just leading into talking about CNN’s new series Crossfire.
The CNN show is a rehashing of the debate show from the eighties. Stephen even pointed out that the debates must be intense because even the show’s marketing didn’t agree. (All New Crossfire Returns…)
Being the pop culture junkie that he is, Stephen decided that he needed his own “bickertainment” and created the segment Pointless Counter Pointless. He stated that since he was “never wrong,” he was going to be moderator.
The two guests for Pointless Counter Pointless? Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. The two were supposed to argue about the letter S but they agreed on everything. That made Stephen angry. Oscar then sang a song about trash.
The entire segment was awkward and not funny. It had so much potential but he got lost on his way to Sesame Street.
After the debate segment, Stephen turned his attention to Rush Limbaugh and his new time traveling children’s book. Limbaugh penned a novel about himself traveling through time to meet the founding fathers. Joined with fictional Limbaugh was his talking, time-traveling horse, Liberty.
Stephen pointed out that other republicans had written books about traveling back in time to teach children about history. He said that it was the proper opportunity to dispel “the left’s history” or, as Stephen corrected, “history.”
Wanting to cash in on the time traveling book business, Stephen said that he was going to write his own book where he played the role of Betsy Ross.
The interview of the night was with Chris Fischer, OCEARCH founder. The two discussed how the foundation is trying to save sharks and learn about them.
