Trailer Weekly - 'Call of Duty: Ghosts'

We're going to change it up a bit this week, as this week's new trailer isn't for a new film, but rather an upcoming video game, albeit with a very cinematic feel. The latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise, Ghosts, is set in a future where the U.S. has been decimated by an attack via space, and has lost its superpower status. Some time later, the U.S. is invaded, and an elite group of soldiers that make up the best from every branch of the military, known as the "Ghosts," do everything they can do fend off the attackers.

Every Call of Duty game could work very well as an action movie. This one doesn't buck that trend. The trailer highlights moments from the single player campaign, with, as you'd expect, boat loads of action. Various locales are shown, as it looks like the game with take the player around the country, and likely the world. Like any good trailer, there needs to be some strong narration, and Ghosts features that in the form of Bruce Greenwood, most known for his recent turns as Christopher Pike in the JJ Abrams Star Trek films. The playable character is the son of Greenwood's character.

The trailer also shows that stealth may be involved, something not particularly associated with a first person shooter. The graphics also look to be improved, and environmental damage also looks present in almost every scene.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is set to be released November 5 on Playstation 3, XBOX 360 and Wii U. It will also be available as a launch title for Playstation 4 and XBOX One.
