The filming of Transformers 4 became a little hectic for director Michael Bay on Thursday when he was attacked on set in Hong Kong by two men demanding money.
When filming disrupted the day-to-day operations of two street vendors who work near the filming location, the two brothers became violent towards Bay and approached him. USA Today reports that the younger brother demanded that Bay pay him nearly $13,000.
On his website, Bay said that he refused to pay them more than what he called the “fair price for our inconvenience” that every other vendor got paid by the film production.
After Bay refused, the men, age 27 and 28, returned an hour later to assault Bay. The director said that one of the men attempted to hit him with an air conditioning unit but Bay dodged the hit and threw the unit to the ground.
Police on set then “jumped on him”, according to Bay. Then the scene turned into something right out of the movies.
Bay said that it took seven men to try and subdue the attacker.
“It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt’s movie World War Z—he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them,” Bay continued on his website. “He actually bit into one of the guards Nike shoe, insane.”
Eventually, fifteen officers got involved in the incident before both men were subdued. Local police say that both men were arrested on charges of blackmail, assault, and assaulting officers, according to the Washington Post.
Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth installment in the series, is scheduled to be released in June of next year and stars Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz.
