Ellen DeGeneres is preparing for her second time hosting the Oscars, and she took some time Friday to share her thoughts on the upcoming Awards show.
According to the Associated Press, DeGeneres commented on the upcoming Oscars and her job as a host a Toys for Tots charity event in Los Angeles.
"I know a lot of those people," the talk show host said of the Oscar audience. "They're on my show a lot. I love the whole business...I get to play with all those people in the audience and make people happy, and, hopefully, relax them."
After last year's Oscars hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane received so much backlash, DeGeneres will work to make everyone happy this year.
In fact, DeGeneres is working towards one special goal in particular. "It reached the world," the 55-year-old said of her 2007 Oscarcast. "And I'm trying to get world peace. So, that's my goal. My hope is by hosting the Academy Awards, right afterward, we have world peace."
"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences made the announcement back in August. "As a longtime friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars. There are few stars today who have Ellen's gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity. She is beloved everywhere and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theatre, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are."
DeGeneres hosted the 79th Academy Awards in 2007, and she received an Emmy nomination following her performance. The 2014 Oscars ceremony is set to air live March 2, 2014 on ABC.
