Garth Brooks went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and gushed about his relationship and marriage to fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood.
According to Us Weekly, Brooks talked about how there was an strong connection with Yearwood when he first met her back in 1987, even though they were both married to other people.
He was married at the time to Sandy Mahl and said of that relationship, "being married, it's got to be right. This is who you went to college with, and you were married in front of God and your family and everything." He continued, "So you keep hacking and you work and you work and your work. And then comes that time where you're looking at the rest of your life going, 'How do you want to live it?'"
So after realizing he was in love with Yearwood, they both filed for divorce, in 2000, and got married five years later, reports Fox News. "This was somebody I always enjoyed being around. And we had a lot more in common than I ever dreamed we did."
The 51-year-old country singer spoke about how he is still so in love with his wife. "I've got to tell you, I never knew it could be like this. I never knew that everyday you could wake up and feel like this. And I have God and I have Ms. Yearwood to thank for this."
The "Wrapped Up In You" singer then explained that he felt Yearwood was one of the best "five female voices of all time."
