Homeless man charged for pushing 72-year-old man onto subway tracks

A 72-year-old man was pushed onto subway tracks at a stop in Harlem by a homeless man Friday afternoon.

According to CBS New York, the man was waiting for the subway at the 145th Street A and C station when a suspect pushed him down onto the platform. Commuters were able to rescue the victim, Sho Kuan Lin, before a train could run him over, but he did suffer a cracked skull and broken collarbone from the fall. He is currently being treated at St. Luke's Hospital and remains in serious condition, reports the New York Daily News.

“He is helped off the roadbed by people who are on the station. They went into the roadbed itself and helped him up, and his wife assisted as well,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Rudralall Baldeo, 57, was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and felony assault. Baldeo was allegedly drunk at the time he pushed Lin down.
