Man poses as member of Nick Cannon's posse, steals jewelry

A suspect who claimed he was part of Nick Cannon's posse succeeded in stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from Fred Segal.

According to TMZ, a man who claimed he was Michael, an employee of Cannon's, called the Santa Monica Fred Segal and said that he needed some jewelry for Mariah Carey right away.

A Fred Segal employee then packed up the jewelry in a bag and met the man at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.

Another man, dressed in a security guard uniform, met the woman at the front door of the hotel. He said he would take the jewelry up to the Cannon's room and come back with the money, claiming he wanted to avoid paying taxes.

The man disappeared upstairs with the jewelry and never returned.

There's no estimate yet of how much the jewelry was worth, but TMZ points out that pants for sale in the Fred Segal are over $300 a pair.

The Business-Standard reports that the Los Angeles Police Department continue to investigate the incident.
