Oakland Raiders' head coach Dennis Allen will give Terrelle Pryor some more playing time before he hands over the reins to Matt McGloin.
According to CSN Bay Area, McGloin is expected to start December 8th, but coach Allen would like to evaluate the undrafted rookie further before the season’s end. That will give Pryor a chance to play again during the last four games.
"I think we want to try to see more of [Pryor] at some point," Allen said Friday. "Injuries are a tough thing. They're hard to account for. You don't know how things are going to respond and how quickly people are going to get back.
"With the short week, and again, only having 20 plays in the second half, we weren't able to get him involved in the offense. But I think that's something we want to look at moving forward, but we'll see how that plays out."
The head coach did not offer up an answer as to whether Pryor’s role would be limited or at the starting position the rest of the way. He did, however, acknowledge that McGloin has not played himself out of the job.
When Pryor was the starter, he completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 1,559 yards with five touchdowns and ten interceptions. He had a passer rating of 69. McGloin, who has had less playing time this year, completed 56.9 percent of his passes for 799 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. That gives him a passer rating of 84.6, notes Pro-Football-Reference.com.
It will be interesting to see how things play out in the last few weeks of the season and if Pryor can somehow salvage his job with the team or if the starting job becomes McGloin’s to lose.
