'The Killing' will return for a fourth season on Netflix

The Killing is seeming to be a show that simply won't be killed. AMC (the network that originally aired the first three seasons) cancelled the show not once but twice. The first cancellation was after the second season, but was renewed for a third season in hopes (like Breaking Bad) that it would create more viewers, unfortunately the third season didn't perform as well as AMC would have hoped (although it garnered great critical reception) and it was cancelled once again. Although the show has met its demise on AMC, Netflix has now picked it up for a fourth and final season.

According to EW Netflix has ordered a 6-episode fourth season for The Killing to give it the send-off it deserves. Cindy Holland, vice president of Netflix stated that, “The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden (Enos) and Stephen Holder (Kinnaman) a proper send off.” It's probably not entirely impossible to rule out the fact that there could be more seasons to come depending on how well this supposed final season plays out.

Netflix has been behind AMC and The Killing since season 3 according to /Film Netflix made a deal to host the show only three months after its third season run, in exchange for production cost. While The Killing didn't get resurrected again on AMC, it's good to see Netflix is giving fans a final bow for a show that's worth watching.
