The next installment of the Fast and Furious films was scheduled to begin shooting scenes with Paul Walker this week, but after his death, production of the film has been halted.
According to TMZ, several of the actors and crew for Fast and Furious 7 were supposed to fly to Atlanta over the weekend and continue filming Tuesday. After Walker's tragic car accident, most of the actors and crew are too upset to continue production any time soon.
One source said, "No one wants to even think about the movie. Period." Especially the writers - even if the film is still on, it would require quite a few revisions to achieve success without Walker's character.
USA Today reports that one of the biggest struggles for the franchise will be the emotions of the actors on set.
"Characters have died in the franchise, and it deals well with the issue of death and tragedy," said Jeff Bock, vice president of industry data firm Exhibitor Relations. "But this is real life, and fans are feeling a real loss. Filmmakers are going to have to walk that fine line of recognizing the tragedy without exploiting it."
Universal Pictures has not yet addressed whether or not the July 11 release date of the next film will be met.
