Man who dropped $1,000 to Mall of America crowd charged with disorderly conduct

A Minnesota resident made it rain money inside the Mall of America on Black Friday, and now he is being charged for disorderly conduct.

According to CBS Minnesota, 29-year-old Serge Vorobyov dropped $1,000 in dollar bills from the fourth floor of the Mall of America while a choir sang "Let it Snow" on the ground floor.
While officials say Vorobyov caused a disruption, he was simply trying to make others happy. He's had a rough year - he went through a divorce from his wife and lost his job and cat. “People think it’s an evil number, I thought it was supposed to be a lucky number,” he said on a YouTube vlog. “I went through a horrible divorce, and she even took the cat and won’t tell me where it is. I thought I would just spread some holiday cheer … pay it forward.”

However, immediately after releasing the money, he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, claiming that someone could have been hurt. In addition, Vorobyov is banned from the mall for a year.

Mall of America spokeswoman Sarah Schmidt confirmed that this was the first time anything like this has happened at the mall, reports the Associated Press.
