Mississippi State Bulldogs mascot Bully was knocked over by an ESPN cart earlier this week, resulting in a compound fracture.
According to Fox Sports and Mississippi State, the student in the mascot suit, Michaela Mills, experienced a compound fraction after her leg was run over by the TV cart and was operated on that night. Mills received two surgeries.
MSU Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin posted a statement on Twitter, saying, "Keep Michaela Mills in your prayers. She's the MSU student in the Bully costume who broke her leg last night. Get well soon."
NFL reports that it's not clear how the camera cart strayed from its path, but said that sometimes people not associated with the TV crew, which includes the media, cheerleaders, security and players, can get in the way of the vehicle.
The game went on for Mississippi State, and despite the mascot chaos in the fourth quarter of the Egg Bowl, they pulled out a win 17-10 over Ole Miss in overtime.
