Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits theaters in December, and to prepare, Ron Burgundy is making appearances everywhere.
People reports that Burgundy is featured in a series of ads for Dodge Durango in addition to creating a Ben & Jerry's flavor of ice cream called Scotchy scotch scotch, opening an exhibit dedicated to him at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. and, most recently, broadcasting the news to Bismarck, N.D. with the station KXMB.
Ferrell used all his Ron Burgundy moves, and showed up dressed in his rust-colored three-piece suit and striped tie. He used the typical exaggerated eye blinks and over-stressed syllables along with his witty banter with his co-anchor Amber Schatz.
According to Associated Press, Schatz had a hard time keeping a straight face during the broadcast. "The second he said, 'Good evening, I'm Ron Burgundy,' I lost it," she said. "It was really hard not to laugh."
No money was exchanged between the news station and the film makers, but both are already benefitting from the broadcast, as the 30-minute segment has gone viral on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Ferrell was supposed to end the broadcast with his catchphrase, "Stay classy," but he missed the cue, and when he finally said, "Stay classy, Bismarck," it was too late. "He did say it, it just didn't air," Schatz revealed.
