'American Hustle,' 'Modern Family' and Matthew McConaughey win at SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards were presented Saturday night and some of the hit it big like Modern Family and American Hustle, with the latter continuing to see pre-Oscars buzz.

American Hustle was nominated for several awards and while it didn't win in any of the separate acting categories, the David O. Russell film did walk away with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film has been buzzing and looks to be the popular choice to win big at the upcoming Academy Awards.

SAG voters awarded both main actors in Dallas Buyers Club, with Matthew McConaughey winning for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, while his co-star Jared Leto won for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

Newcomer Lupita Nyong'o won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her work in 12 Years A Slave and Cate Blanchett took the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Leading Role for Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.

In the TV side of the awards, Modern Family was able to two awards, including Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series to Ty Burrell and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Breaking Bad won the Drama Series version of the award and Bryan Cranston was awarded for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work in the HBO show Veep and Maggie Smith won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series because of Downton Abbey. Helen Mirren's role in Phil Spector netted her the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries award. Michael Douglas' turn as Liberace in Behind the Candelabra won him Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries.

Other awards presented at the SAG Awards include the Life Achievement Award, which was presented to Rita Moreno, the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, which went to Lone Survivor and the TV equivalent went to HBO's Game of Thrones.
