Dame Helen Mirren takes a bold step and twerks on stage after accepting the 2014 Woman of the Year award from Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
The award, which is given out from a well known Harvard organization that most know as “The Pudding”, was presented to the “Red 2” actress on Thursday.
According to Yahoo, the 68-year-old actress was initially too embarrassed to perform the dance, but decided to anyway after the Harvard group insisted.
“The Pudding” is known for performing cross-dressing musicals, and after the award was presented many of the performers joined Mirren for a march through Cambridge, in full costume. Previous members of the organization include Theodore Roosevelt, J.P. Morgan and William Randolph Hearst.
An unsurprising past member of this organization was Jack Lemmon, who can be seen using his knowledge of cross-dressing in the classic film “Some Like It Hot” (1959) with Marilyn Monroe.
According to Boston, past recipients of this award include Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Harvard group will be honoring Neil Patrick Harris on February 7 as the 2014 Man of the Year.
