Russian DJ, Anton Zaslavski, known as Zedd, won the Grammy award last night for Best Dance Recording with his hit single, “Clarity”. The song came off his debut studio album of the same name and was co-written by Matthew Koma, with the vocals of Foxes, who was alongside him to accept the award.
In his acceptance speech, Zedd said thanks to Koma, Foxes, friends, and family. He then personally dedicated the award to his best friend in the audience, Skrillex, according to Billboard.com.
“He was one of the first people in the industry that really believed in me and gave me an opportunity. You’re one of my best friends, this is for you. Thank you,” he said.
This was a big win for Zedd, as electronic dance music continues to rise and become a huge genre in today’s music, according to Theatlantic.com. Other EDM artists who took home Grammys included Cedric Gervais for Best Remixed Recording and Daft Punk with five awards, including Album and Record of the Year.
