Minnesota teen plans to sleep outside for a year

Rudy Hummel is a 17-year-old boy who enjoys the outdoors. In fact, he enjoys it so much that he will endure a night’s sleep outside rain, wind, or snow.

Hummel has set an ambitious goal to sleep outside for an entire calendar year, states Kare11.com.

The recent change in cold weather has called for extra precaution on his behalf, but Hummel is determined to meet his expectations.

“I’ve always liked setting goals and making them, challenging myself”, said Hummel according to Duluth News Tribune.

Hummel is an active Boy Scout statesDuluth News Tribune , so he came up with a way to tolerate temperatures below freezing all night by building a snow house.

His parents find this endeavor fitting for his personality, because according to his mother Gail Johnejack, "The first time he tried to sleep out all night he was four,” writesKare11.com.

As he bundles up in multiple layers of clothing and blankets, Hummel settles down night after night outside as he is one step closer to achieving his objective.
