Nicki Minaj claims she was photoshopped by ESPN

Nicki Minaj is the latest star to criticize a magazine for overtly retouching her photographs. The 31-year-old rapper used her Instagram account to condemn ESPN for photoshopping her image.

Minaj appears next to Kobe Bryant in the sports magazine’s latest music issue. On Thursday, she posted a picture of the cover to her Instagram account with the caption, “When retouching goes wrong.”

She then shared several of her own photographs from the shoot. One of these before-photoshop pictures reads, “I love my personal unretouched photos where my forehead doesn’t mysteriously grow in length.”

Whether the magazine adjusted the size of the singer’s forehead is difficult to tell, since the photographs were taken from different angles. However, it’s clear that the finished cover has been edited and enhanced overall.

Last December, a gif of Jennifer Lawrence surfaced that revealed the extensive retouching done to the actress on an 2011 issue of Flare. The magazine slimmed down the Hunger Games actress and even lowered the position of her collar bone in post production.

Hopefully with more attention to these retouched photos, the unrealistic expectations of female beauty will come to an end.
