The Rangers sweep stadium series

Although the result wasn’t as shocking as Sunday’s game, tonight the Rangers led the Islanders 2-1 in the second and final game of the stadium series, making it a sweep.

Working off of their 7-3 performance against the Devils, the Rangers definitely had built up confidence going into tonight’s game.

The Rangers played in the Bronx, in front of 50,027 fans, with the temperature at 22 degrees when the puck dropped, according to sports.yahoo.com

Brock Nelson of the Islanders scored the first goal of the night in the second period, but Beniot Pulliot answered right back. Not more than 46 seconds later, Pulliot tied the game, according to nydailynews.com

Henrik Lundqist, “The King,” sported Yankeee pin stripe pads once more, possibly bringing him some luck. He stopped 30 shots on goal and only let one shot by Brock Nelson sneak by him in the second period.

The tie-breaking goal was scored 4:36 into the third period by Daniel Carcillo, the newest addition to the team.

The Rangers are now 3-0 in their outdoor game history and will host the Islanders at Madison Square Garden on Friday.
