A look back: My Chemical Romance says goodbye but 'The Black Parade' will never die

There will never be another MCR.

Gerard Way and company were able to effectively summarize and emphasize a counter-culture. A younger generation full of attitudes that questioned everything in their past and couldn't look back.

They ridiculed pundits, attacked inequality and created meaningful beating hearts in the process.

And so, I thank you MCR, for being possibly the best scream-the-lyrics-in-your-car band of all time and for making a mark on me, and millions of other young men and women in the process.

With that in mind, a quick look back at their magnum opus, i\ The Black Parade i\ is in order as we prepare for their swan song.

What with the emotionally-driven lyrics, the teenage anthems, and the take-no-prisoners attitude, there isn't much this album doesn't have.

"Dead!" is clearly one of the front-runners for the best song on this album as Way's impressive voice viciously shouts the metaphorically-littered lyrics with enough passion to shake you to the core. And with the group chants, the strings, big band elements, just this one song has enough substance for entire album on its own.

Other songs also have awesomeness as well. As the only thing "Teenagers" lacks on its own is the shortness of the song, and "Famous Last Words" takes a turn to the sentimental side, with pretty lyrics like, "I am not afraid to keep on living/ I am not afraid to walk this world alone," it's sure to touch the hearts of any generation.

But yet, surprisingly, the best song on the album, and possibly one of the best songs of this generation, happens to be its most commercially popular one, "Welcome To The Black Parade."

The song roars into your consciousness and well-being with earth shattering overtones and unparalleled excellence. It boasts a slick piano arrangement, marching band-styled drums and a band who wants nothing more than to improve everything they can about society.

But, the most outstanding part of the song, and the album, is again Gerard Way's voice as he gives everything he has into this song, leaving his guts and tears and shredded vocal cords on the microphone as the drum plays them off.

There will never be another MCR.
