A young teen saved a baby deer from getting caught in a raging river in Bangladesh and reunited it with its family.
The young deer was found by the boy drowning in the river, which was very deep due to flooding in the area. The boy, Belal, swam into the river and grabbed the deer, lifting it over his head and carried it out of the water. At some point, Balal was completely submerged in the river, Grind TV reports.
This particular area of Bangladesh has very heavy storm seasons and loses a lot of animals, especially deer, when the flooding starts. Many are willing to go to these kinds of measures to save what they can. Deer, in general, have had many recent stories of getting caught into trouble.
According to the Huffington Post, only seven people witnessed the act. When the boy came out of the water, the small crowd cheered him on.
Wildlife photographer Hasib Wahab, who was one of the witnesses, called the spectacle a “phenomenal sight.”
