On Monday, a New Jersey man and a former librarian at a Manhattan school will be prosecuted for the conspiracy to kidnap and rape women and children before killing them.
Michael Vanhise and Robert Christopher Asch transpired in messages against Vanhise’s family members, according to AP .
Lawyers for Vanhise and Asch acknowledged that the evidence would be gruesome, but that the jury should take into account that what the two talked about were just fantasies, and they were not going to carry them out.
On January 24, a prospective jury was chosen out of 90 people. As the jury was selected, the judged asked each one if they would be affected by the evidence which would include discussions of kidnapping, raping, and killed women and children. One juror shook her head no.
Vanhise and Asch are being held without bail until their trail.
This case comes one year after New York City police officer, Richard Meltz, the 65-year-old ex-chief of police at the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical Center was arrested after he conspired to kill women and then eating their remains, according to NY City Lens.
