Dylan McDermott cast for lead role in Kevin Williamson's CBS thriller

Dylan McDermott will be staying with CBS after he has been cast into the lead role in Kevin Williamson's thriller CBS recently put in a pilot order for.

The show, which does not yet have a name, will follow the LAPD's Threat Assessment Unit, who are in charge of dealing with stalker reports, according to Variety. McDermott will play a new addition to the unit, Jack Larsen.

His character is described as someone who often gets himself into trouble because of his confidence and quick thinking. Larsen hopes to leave that behavior in the past.

The Hollywood Reporter notes the hour-long drama pilot will be written by Williamson, who has worked on The Following and The Vampire Diaries. He will also executive produce the pilot with Liz Friedlander coming aboard to direct.

McDermott recently starred opposite Toni Collette in CBS' series Hostages, which struggled in the ratings and also was on two seasons of FX's American Horror Story.
