'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer adds some humor to the Marvel Universe (Video)

How do introduce the general public to a bunch of obscure comic book characters? Well, if you’re Marvel Studios, you use “Hooked on a Feeling” and show off the funny side of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew. The first trailer for the film, which features easily the most obscure comic book group to reach the big screen, was shown during Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night and just hit the web.

The trailer opens with the most human character, Jason Quill or Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) stealing a priceless object and getting thrown in prison for it. His fellow inmates are the other members of the team - assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana); Rocket Racoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper); walking tree Groot (Vin Diesel); and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). Other supporting players, like John C. Reily, are seen in the trailer.

“There's a whole lot to this movie — it's not a stage play,” Pratt told USA Today Monday. “You couldn't make Guardians of the Galaxy the play and put it on Broadway. It really wouldn't work.”

The film is being directed by Super’s James Gunn, who also co-wrote the script. The trailer will be seen in theaters starting Friday and the movie itself opens on Aug. 1.
