'Minecraft' video game will be made into a movie

The popular video game, Minecraft, will be made into a movie. Warner Bros. Lego Movie producer Roy Lee is spearheading the project.

Roy Lee also created the Lego Movie. According to Deadline, The Lego Movie has been incredibly successful, boasting $187 million domestically in international markets.

According to The Guardian, the game’s creator, Markus ‘Notch’ Persson took to Twitter on Thursday evening to say, “Someone is trying leak the fact that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!”

The game developer will have creative input to the final movie that will make it onto the big screen. Minecraft features characters that include zombies, creepers, and skeleton archers. It was first launched in 2009. In the game, Minecraft, players create their own avatar. They use cubes to create, build, and destroy structures.

As it boasts over 100 million users registered on its official site, Warner Bros. believes that the film will have many loyal fans. Minecraft is successful and fans purchase books, toys, and clothing inspired by the original video game.
