North and South Korea will be holding reunions during the week of February 20-25 in attempted to better its relations.
On Wednesday, the first group comprised of 82 elderly people, who were accompanied by 58 family members were taken to a resort on the coast before making the trip north.
This trip will be the first of its kind since 2010; however it was canceled due to the North shelling on a South Korean island.
According to the BBC, only 100 people are chosen each time to take part in this very special reunion. Many have not seen their loved ones in decades.
Some are worried about the frailty of the travelers, who mostly are over the age of 80. According to the AFP, Kim Se-rin, 85, told them that he worries that he won’t be able to remember what his sister looks like. He said, “"She's 81 now, I wonder what she looks like. I have waited 64 years for this. This is it. My last chance”
Families were split up during the Korean War of 1950-1953.
