Despite rapper T-Pain’s recent claim that hip-hop artists refuse to work with Frank Ocean because of his open sexuality, Rick Ross says the opposite.
According to Gay Star News, the rapper said in an interview that he doesn’t think that the hip-hop scene is becoming more accepting of gay artists.
“I don’t think urban music is getting more gay-friendly because if that was the case, Frank Ocean would be on a lot more songs,” he said.
Ocean, who came out in a Tumblr post, revealed that at 19 he had a relationship with another man. Because of his honestly, he won over the support and praise of other artists including Russell Simmons and Beyoncé.
However, other rap artists believe that people can do what they want, especially within the art scene.
Rick Ross said in an interview with HuffPost Live this week that, “You can’t tell nobody which direction to take their art.”
“That’s the beauty of being creative,” he added.
Ross hadn’t heard about T-Pains remarks but instead noted, “I feel your personal life is your personal life. In my personal life, you do whatever you do. That’s your business.”
