'Dynasty' and original 'Doctor Who' star, Kate O'Mara, dead at age 74

Former Dynasty star, Kate O’Mara, has passed away at the age of 74. Her agent, Phil Belfield, confirmed the news that she died after a short illness.

O’Mara passed away in Sussex, England, where she was living in a nursing home. She died on Sunday.

In addition to her time spent on the 1980s soap opera Dynasty, O’Mara also appeared on the original Doctor Who and Absolutely Fabulous, Daily Star reports.

"She was extraordinary, she had so much energy and vitality with a love for theatre and acting,” said Belfield. “A shining star has gone out and Kate will be dearly missed by all who knew and have worked with her."

Just last year, O’Mara said in an interview about living in Los Angeles, “I was in Hollywood for two years, and the only way to approach it was with a sense of humour, because they took everything so seriously,” The Mirror reports.

She also said about the hair and makeup, "By the time they'd finished, I never recognized myself, the make up was so flawless and the lighting superb."

The last time O’Mara appeared on screen was in 2012’s ITV show Benidorm.
O’Mara was divorced twice and she’s survived by her sister, Belinda Carroll.
