The lineup for the seventh annual Roots Picnic was announced in an Okayplayer Youtube video on Monday.
The show will also include Janelle Monáe, A$AP Ferg, and a DJ set from Biz Markie. As usual, the Picnic will take place in the Roots' hometown of Philadelphia, at Penn's Landing on May 31st to be more specific. Tickets for the Roots Picnic will go on sale Friday, March 7th on RootsPicnic.com with a presale Thursday on Okayplayer.
Questlove made the announcement with a series of Bob Dylan style cue cards while his hair was being styled. The drummer will likely have to multitask again on the day of the concert as The Roots will be busy backing Snoop Dogg during his set on top of their own headlining performance.
The Roots are no strangers to busy schedules. Since becoming the Late Night house band they released two albums How I Got Over and Undun, as well as their collaborations with John Legend, Betty Wright and Elvis Costello, making a total of five albums in as many years. Last month the Legendary Roots Crew made the move to The Tonight Show alongside host Jimmy Fallon and plan to release another album this Spring according to vocalist Black Thought's recent interview with XXL.
