Atlanta-based rapper and Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta star, Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, was shot by his cousin at his mother’s funeral on Saturday morning.
The incident happened in Duxbury, Mass. on Saturday morning during the funeral for Mary Scott, who died on March 20.
WHDH Boston reports 36-year-old Gai Scott pulled his Bentley up to the SUV Benzino was riding in and fired multiple shots. He was taken to South Shore Hospital when some of the shots hit him and he’s now in stable condition.
A rep for Benzino told Billboard, “He was shot in the shoulder while attending his mom funeral. By his side is his Dad, long time business partner Dave Mays, friend Stevie J and his fiance AltheaHeart. At this time we ask that you keep Benzino in your prayers as we are hoping for a speedy recovery."
Gai Scott was arrested on armed assault with intent to murder charges and his court date is set for March 31.
