Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel of How I Met Your Mother have more than just the chops to act. The actors performed a version of “Confrontation” from Les Miserables in front of a student audience last week, giving audience members a little taste of what How I Met Your Mother would have been like had it been a musical.
Harris and Segel took on the roles of Javert and Jean Valjean after a student requested a performance from the two at Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio reported Parade. Harris and Segel then began the performance spontaneously from there chairs looking at one another after Alyson Hannnigan, who plays Lily, Segel’s wife on the series, stated, “haven’t heard that in a long time.”
Harris and Segel have revealed in the past their love for the musical. In 2006, the duo performed the song on The Megan Mullally Show after acknowledging their appreciation for it and how they often broke out in song while on set.
As previously reported How I Met Your Mother comes to an end Monday with the much anticipated final episode of how the character “Ted” met his wife. Cast mate to Harris and Segal, Josh Radnor, portrays the role of “Ted” who for the past nine seasons has been telling the story of how he met his wife to his children. The episode will air at 8 p.m. on CBS.
