Piers Morgan ends run on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Live' with one last message on gun control (Video)

Piers Morgan ended his run on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live on Friday, but he didn’t sign off without one final plea to both Americans and the NRA.

The gun control advocate, whose show was announced as ending last month, made sure to end his last show talking about the issue closest to his heart.

“To those who claim my gun control campaign has been anti-American, well, the reverse is true. I'm so pro-American I want more of you to stay alive. Now it's down to you,” he said. To his critics, he said, “I’m so pro-American I want more of you to stay alive,” Boston.com reports.

He also said, “The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly [sic] silence even when 20 children are blown away in their classrooms.”

When it was announced that his run on CNN would be ending, mostly due to lackluster ratings and criticism on Morgan’s interview style, he gave his insight as to why it didn’t work out in an interview with the New York Times.

“Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging about it,” he said.
