Young boy identified after being killed by bull mastiff

Police identified 13 year old Kenneth Santilla after he was killed by a 115-pound bull mastiff dog on Friday in a New Jersey neighborhood.

Santilla and an unidentified friend were walking down the street when the mastiff attacked them. Police found the young boy’s body after his family reported him missing.

According to Seatle PI, the other teenager and the dog’s owner both sustained injuries due to the fact that the dog was biting. The owner then stabbed the dog multiple times, and it was later euthanized. It’s body will be tested for rabies.

Maria Zacheus, a resident in the neighborhood said that, “He was trying to jump the fence, because the fence is very low. Monday through Friday, I walk through here to go pick him up from school. I always see the dog. He starts barking. He's very aggressive,” according to North Jersey News.

Not all mastiffs are aggressive dogs. Characteristics can range from being friendly, health and grooming, and trainability.
