AirAsia apologizes for insensitive article in its onboard magazine

Regional airliner AirAsia has issued an apology after a column in their magazine almost bragged about the fact that they’ve never lost a plane, angering many over the recently missing Malaysian Airlines flight.

The airline published the apology in a statement on Saturday regarding the April addition of the magazine, Travel 3Sixty magazine. According to NBC News, they also claimed that the article had been written before the March 8 disappearance of Flight 370.

“As a monthly contributor, Capt. Lim (Khoy Hing) prepared all of his articles months in advance before the magazine goes to print,” the statement said.

The article’s last words were, “rest assured that your captain is well prepared to ensure your plane will never get lost.” Many went to social media to riot the complete disregard for respect to those lost in Flight 370.

According to the Associated Press, AirAsia has, as a result of this incident, will be putting their articles through more thorough editing processes. For the time being, the April edition has been removed from all planes.
