The Jem and the Holograms cast has begun filling out with four actresses joining up as the titular band.
Audrey Peeples (Nashville) has signed on to play the lead role of Jem, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned of the casting news. The Holograms will be played by Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau.
Scott (A.N.T. Farm) will play Kimber, Jem's sister, while Aja will be played by Kiyoko (The Fosters). Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) has been cast as Shana.
As previously reported, Jem is based upon a 1980s toy line from Hasbro and was also a cartoon series from 1985 to 1988.
Scooter Braun, Jason Blum and Jon M. Chu are heading up the project. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) will be helming the film, based off scribe Ryan Landels' script, while Jem will be produced by Blum's Blumhouse Production and Scooter Braun Productions.
The film will follow Jem who is an orphan and finds herself becoming an online singing sensation. She and the rest of her band go on a journey through Los Angeles as they search for messages left by her father.
